Please leave! By Zurien Onn
It's tough to shoo friends out of the house after you're exhausted from hosting a killer dinner party. Here's how to get them going when they've overstayed their welcome.
Subtle hint: Start playing that dreary CD you got at the office party luck draw. Make small talk so as not to appear too rude, but try to talk about boring or nonsensical things so that they'll get the idea that you are not quite "awake".
Not-so-subtle-hint: If your guests missed the hint, just start cleaning the house and ask them to help. If this doesn't make them leave, you would at least have some help in clearing up.
Quite frankly: Your friend's quite thick in the head? Stand up and say "Well, it was really cool catching up with you. We should do this again some time soon."
As blunt as a ball: Just tell them that they need to leave pronto. However, lace it with some humour or an excuse such as an encroaching headache, so that they know you're not being disrespectful, you just need some rest. This is also good for when it's not night time and you can't plead about the late hour.
